However, when examining the question of whether Black women are being employed equally, it is important to acknowledge that persistent racial disparities continue to exist in the workforce. This resurgence in women's employment is a positive development, indicating progress and opportunities in the labor market. It was a stark reminder of the existing gender disparities in employment and the need for equitable solutions.įast forward to the present, and we see a significant shift in the employment landscape.Ĭompanies now have a higher representation of women on their payrolls than ever before, and the percentage of women aged 25-54 who are employed or actively seeking work has reached a record high. Three years ago, the world experienced a profound upheaval as a global pandemic triggered what was termed a "she-cession," disproportionately impacting women's employment.ĭuring this challenging time, millions of women faced job losses or had to leave the workforce to shoulder caregiving responsibilities for their loved ones.
